Chandrashekhar Pasare Named Director Of Immunobiology
Chandrashekhar Pasare, DVM, PhD, has been named director of the Division of Immunobiology. He will build on existing programs and drive innovations that promote excellence in immunology research and education. His vision is to set an ambitious course for the long-term scientific growth and fiscal vitality of the division—leading and enabling transformational research programs in cutting-edge areas of immunology. Todd Ponsky, MD, has been named an interim vice president for Innovation Ventures. Todd joined the Innovation Ventures team from the Division of General and Thoracic Surgery, where he served as director of Clinical Growth and Transformation. In his new role, Todd will continue to teach but also provide direction and oversight of a team of experienced portfolio managers, patent experts and staff. Learn more about Todd Ponsky. |

Michael Gaies Named Heart Institute Executive Co-Director
Michael Gaies, MD, MPH, has been named executive co-director of the Heart Institute as well as division director of Pediatric Cardiology and the Kindervelt Samuel Kaplan Chair in Cardiology. He joins current Heart Institute executive co-directors Jeffery Molkentin, PhD, and David Morales, MD, and succeeds Andrew Redington, MD, who will retire at the beginning of 2024. Michael joined Cincinnati Children’s in February of 2022 as the medical director of the Acute Care Cardiology Unit. He brings a wealth of experience into this role as founder and past executive director of the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium and Cardiac Networks United. His research, which has appeared in more than 130 published manuscripts and book chapters, focuses on the use of large datasets to understand variation in system factors related to outcomes in children with heart disease, particularly those undergoing surgery or catheter-based interventions. Anne Boat, MD, named Anesthesiologist-in-Chief
Anne Boat, MD, will join Cincinnati Children’s as Anesthesiologist-In-Chief, effective Jan. 22, 2024. Anne will return to Cincinnati Children’s from Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, where she has served as Associate Chief Medical Officer and Director of Fetal Anesthesia since 2018. She is also an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Boat replaces John McAuliffe, MD, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
